What stays on your device
The game stores the following in your device's local storage. We do not automatically upload these records to a server of our own:
- Your high score and best streak.
- Learned rules and whether you completed or skipped the introduction.
- Local counts of introduction opens/completions/skips, run starts/finishes/retries, and attempts/misses by rule. Clear these in Settings without clearing scores, purchases or learned rules.
- Your settings: language, sound on/off, haptics on/off.
- What you have purchased, and how many continues you have left.
There is no cloud save and no way for us to see any of it. (The usage statistics below are separate records of play, with no name or account.)
What leaves your device
Score sharing — only when you choose
Challenge a friend offers your score, level and App Store link to the system share sheet. You choose whether to send it and the destination. On supported browsers without a share sheet, the same text can be copied to the clipboard. Play statistics and purchase records are not included.
Feedback — only when you choose
Settings has a Send feedback button, and after some games the app may ask "How's the game?" with four faces to tap. Nothing is sent unless you tap a face or press Send. What we receive:
- The face you tapped, and the text you typed, if any.
- An email address, only if you choose to add one because you'd like an answer.
- Where you sent it from (Settings or the check-in), and the app's version, language and platform (iOS, Android or web).
We do not receive your name, device identifier or advertising identifier. Unless you add your email, the message is not linked to you; if you add it, we use it only to answer that message, never for marketing, and delete it with the message. Please don't type other personal details into it. Messages are stored privately on our website's host (Vercel), read only by us, used only to improve the game, and deleted when no longer needed (at most after 12 months). A copy of each message is also sent to us as a Telegram message, in a private chat with our own bot, so we see it quickly. Without an internet connection, a message waits on your device and is sent next time the app opens.
Duel — only while you play one
A live Duel connects your phone and your friend's through our realtime service (Supabase, EU servers). Only the room code, each round and each player's press time pass between the two phones; nothing is stored, and no name or identifier is sent.
Party — only while you play one
A party connects the host's app, the players' phones and any big screen (a TV or a browser at dont-press-me.vercel.app/tv) through the same realtime service (Supabase, EU servers). What passes between them: the room code, the name each player types for the party, each round, each answer (when the button was pressed, and which one), and the points. Names are checked against a word list, shown only to the people in that room, and the host can remove a name. Nothing is stored after the party, and no identifier or advertising ID is sent. A player can join from a web browser without the app; the same applies there.
Top 100 leaderboard — only if you add your name
If an Endless score makes the top 100, the game asks you to pick a name for the public leaderboard. If you do, we store the name you picked, your best Endless score, a random ID the app made for the leaderboard (not linked to you, your device or your advertising identifier), and the app's language and platform, in our database (Supabase, EU servers). Your name and score are shown to all players. To have your entry removed, email us.
Any player can tap a name on the Top 100 to report it. The name is then hidden on their phone, and we receive the reported name, its rank and score, and the app's version, language and platform, the same way as feedback. We remove names that break the rules.
Usage statistics: Google Analytics for Firebase
To see where the game is too hard, too easy or confusing, the app sends short records of play to Google Analytics for Firebase:
- When the app is opened.
- Levels started, cleared or failed: the level, the kind of round, why it failed, the stars, and the play time.
- Endless: the level reached and the score.
- Finishing the first level, opening the shop, purchases (the product and its price), and ads watched (where in the game, and whether the reward was earned).
- Party: a room opened (Big screen or Phones only), a phone joining (from the app or the web), a game started or ended (the number of players and rounds), and the Party Pass screen shown. Never the names typed in a party.
With them, Firebase records an ID it creates for this installation of the app (not your name, account or device serial), the device model and operating system, the app version, language and country. We never send your name, your leaderboard name, feedback text, or any advertising identifier: the app is set up so that Firebase does not read the IDFA or the Android Advertising ID, and these statistics are not used for advertising or ad personalisation. Google processes them on our behalf: firebase.google.com/support/privacy.
Advertising: Google AdMob
The free version shows banner and interstitial ads, and offers an optional rewarded video ad in exchange for extra lives. These are served by Google AdMob, which collects:
- Your device's advertising identifier (IDFA on iOS, Advertising ID on Android).
- Device and app information: model, operating system version, app version, coarse region and language.
- Whether an ad was shown, viewed, or tapped.
Google uses this to select ads, to measure them, and to detect fraud. Google's own policy governs what it does with the data: policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites
On iOS, the app asks for permission before any of this is used to track you across other companies' apps. Declining is fine: you still get ads, they are just less targeted. You can change the answer later in Settings → Privacy & Security → Tracking.
On Android, you can reset or delete your Advertising ID in Settings → Privacy → Ads.
Buying "Remove Ads" stops this entirely: no banners, no interstitials, and no ad requests.
Purchases: RevenueCat, Apple, and Google
If you buy something, the payment is handled by Apple's App Store or Google Play. We never see your card details, name, or billing address. The Party Pass subscriptions (yearly and monthly) renew through Apple until you cancel them in Settings → your name → Subscriptions.
To confirm a purchase is genuine and to restore it on a new device, the app uses RevenueCat, which receives an anonymous app-specific user ID, the store receipt, and the product you bought. RevenueCat's policy: revenuecat.com/privacy
Children
The game is suitable for all ages and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children. It is not, however, directed at children under 13, because it carries third-party advertising. If you believe a child has provided personal information through the ad networks, contact us and we will help you raise it with Google.
Your rights
Because there is no account, we hold nothing that identifies you to look up, export, or delete. To remove everything associated with the app:
- Delete your local data: uninstall the app.
- Delete a feedback message you sent: email us roughly when you sent it and what it said, and we will delete it.
- Usage statistics: uninstalling the app resets the installation ID, so later play cannot be linked to earlier records.
- Reset advertising data: reset your advertising identifier in your device settings, as described above.
- Opt out of personalised ads: decline the tracking prompt on iOS, or turn off ad personalisation in your Android settings.
- Requests about data held by Google (AdMob, Firebase) or RevenueCat: go to them directly, at the policy links above. We can point you to the right form.
If you are in the EU or UK, the legal basis for personalised advertising is your consent, which you can withdraw at any time through the settings above; the legal basis for processing a purchase is performance of our contract with you.
Changes
If this policy changes materially, the "last updated" date changes and the new version is posted at the same address. Continuing to use the app after that means you accept the updated policy.
